Immortal thunder goddess; Sky-Drums emit sonic shockwaves when struck

I decided to base the storm siblings on the gods of Japanese myth. I found a DeviantArt pic with a redesigned, female looking Lightning, and decided that I would make Thunder a girl too. Luckily there was already a female goddess of thunder, named Kaminari. In my version, she and her sister are the youngest children of Elder god, Raiden. The immortal Raijin, is their older brother (making his son, Kintaro, their nephew). Kaminari has a basic set of Sky Drums, unlike the more powerful ones Raijin has access to. I decided to base her design on a Japanese taiko drummer. Her sonic powers come from beating the drum as opposed to clapping her hands.

Immortal lightning goddess; can hurl and summon lightning

When I found a pic with what looked like a gender bent version of the animated Lightning from Teen Titans, I knew I wanted that for my MangaDCU version. Visually, I don't think I changed anything other than confirming her femininity. My version is a lot like the animated one in personality. Physically less stronger than her sister, she is definitely more vocal. Unlike their older brothers, Fujin and Raijin; Kaminari and Shuuraiten were not birthed from an encounter between Lord Raiden and a Hannya-oni (which lends an explanation to the former's tempestuous behavior). The two brothers raged unchecked for some time before the immortals gathered to reign them in, after which the two brothers became members of the August Assemblage...and perhaps its fiercest warriors. The sisters were born on earth, but they have an encounter where they are introduced to their brother who told them of their celestial ancestry. after gifting them their tools and raiment, he places them on a probationary period with a list of tasks to complete before they can enter Takamagahara, the High Heaven's Plain, to meet their father.


Gnarrk: (design based on Street Fighter's Blanka, and animated version)
Oni-raised human, monstrous strength and ferocity

I decided to dump the caveman angle and figured the best and closest representation to what Gnarrk embodies, would be a human who was raised like an Oni. So my idea is; some humans captured a female Oni, or Hannya and tortured it in retribution for the plagues and hardships they had endured which they attributed to the creature. She was pregnant and they slaughtered the offspring in her womb. in their brutality, they also sterilized the creature, so that it could no longer reproduce. Eventually, their bravado was their undoing as the creature escaped, and slaughtered most of the villagers. She was about to slay the infant of the ones who had killed hers, when she decided on a more fitting punishment...she nursed it. She left them with the unharmed infant, but the child was inconsolable and uncontrollable. He caused his birth mother immense pain and bloodshed when she attempted to nurse him afterwards. granted immense strength from the oni's milk the savage child was seen as a monster as well and the infant's parents abandoned it outside the gates of the village for their own protection. he cried for three days straight until the oni that had nursed him returned. the trauma and loss she experienced changed her in a way that was uncommon for her kind. She decided to take it back to Jigoku with her and raise it like the she would've raised her own.


Kole: (design merges animated and comic version with anime elements)
Atlantean Aragonite Order priestess; crystal generation

The Atlantean Aragonite Order predates the time of The Great Sinking. The members of the Order studied the unique techniques developed by the immortal, Amethyst to utilize formations of crystals to technologically advance its capital city further than the rest of the planet. The crystals were discovered to be energy batteries capable of storing and discharging all manner of energies, including spiritual. They used the crystals to induce healing states, or transmit energy and data. The Aragonite Order were trained in the ways of manipulating the formation of crystals for all of its various uses. Kole is a descendant of survivors of the order who were on a pilgrimage prior to the cataclysm that sank their continent to the bottom of the seven seas. She is the last living member capable of utilizing the ancient techniques that she has been trained in since birth. Kole's power manifest similar to the character, Gurren from Naruto: Shippuden. She will also discover she has the ability to convert her body into crystal, but she while she is invulnerable in this for, she is immobile. I combined her animated look with her comic look.

-not sure what I'm going to use to get this group together just yet. im sure it will be related to the gods tho.
-since i was not lucky enough to locate a "lightning goddess" as i had with kaminari, i decided to use the japanese word, shuurai which translates as, "lightning strike" and add ten, which means, "god".
- one of the Storm Sisters tasks will involve their nephew, Kintaro aka The Ray.
- "Gnarrk" is the only word that he has ever spoken. He will also employ the use of a "tanabo", the traditional Oni weapon/club (substituting for a caveman's club)
